AUTHOR JOSHUA STERN LAUNCHES THE FIRST “ASK JOSHUA” GUEST TEEN BLOG ENTRIES

Past Experiences Leads Author to Become the Voice for the Youth

WHO & WHAT:

Toronto born, Joshua was the black sheep of the family and became an outcast in his own home. His father sent him to live in the city's social system's youth services. There he became engulfed in darkness as he felt destined to social doom.

Abuse and addiction survivor - and now rising author Joshua Stern, at only 35 years of age, has already led a life full of adventure, tragedy and pain. He was able to escape a former 'crooked' and tragic lifestyle in Hollywood, California which almost cost him his life. Stern is looking forward to the release of his first book which fully details this journey.

Stern's blog, dedicated to his upcoming tell all book titled "A Mother's Love", has turned into a unexpected platform for young adults to air their own issues, concerns and tribulations, current or past. "There are so many other people who as children or young adults felt neglected, alone, misunderstood, stuck, or angry. They desperately need an outlet and platform to share their stories and most importantly for them to realize that they are not alone,” said Joshua Stern, Author, "A Mother's Love".

The blog will now have a monthly featured anonymous youth blogger who will contribute a minimum of three stories/entries per month and will offer an opportunity for questions and answers from readers who submit their questions through email on the "A Mother's Love" blog. The questions will be answered directly by the guest blogger and also posted to encourage online dialogue and continued sharing.

Stern added: "My hope is that the people who visit and contribute to my blog continue to see that they share common stories and experiences. This may help alleviate the isolation that so many of yesterday and today's youth feel when it comes to battling addiction, dealing with self-esteem and self-worth issues, and communicating with their parents, some of who can't or don't listen." After years of near death experiences, run-ins with the wrong type of people, shoot outs and a short stint in jail, just to name a few of the "out of a movie", real life episodes Joshua lived through, he left California and began using writing as a way to escape and describe his feelings and experiences, mostly through song. It was his way of dealing with the pain. Two weeks before Joshua's 30th birthday his mother succumbed to leukemia. Sadly, this fulfilled a premonition Joshua had when he was younger, that his mother would die before she turned 60. His heart sank as his only true supporter had left him, but he would soon find his mother hadn't really left him at all.

SPECIAL EXCERPT FROM HIGHLY ANTICIPATED NEW BOOK ‘A MOTHER’S LOVE’ BEING RELEASED ON AUTHOR JOSHUA STERN’S BLOG TO COMMEMORATE MOTHER'S DAY AND CHILD MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

WHO & WHAT:

Abuse and addiction survivor - and now rising author Joshua Stern, at only 35 years of age, has already led a life full of adventure, tragedy and pain. He was able to escape a former lifestyle in Hollywood, California which almost cost him his life. Stern is just about to release his first book, detailing his journey.

Toronto born, Joshua was the black sheep of the family and became an outcast in his own home. His father sent him to live in the city’s social system’s youth services. There he became engulfed in darkness as he felt destined to social doom.

"I have been fortunate to have known Joshua, for a long time to and see him rise to the man and father he is today. As you read his book, you will not believe it could be true or that it happened here, to a young child or man in our society and you will not put this incredible book down," says, Peter Shurman, MPP Thornhill.

After years of near death experiences, run-ins with the wrong type of people, shoot outs, and a short stint in jail, just to name a few out of the movies, real life episodes, Joshua left California and began writing short stories, essays, and songs about his experiences. It was his way of dealing with the pain. Two weeks before Joshua’s 30th birthday his mother succumbed to leukemia. Sadly, this fulfilled a premonition Joshua had when he was younger, that his mother would die before she turned 60. His heart sank as his only true supporter had left him.

A strong athlete as a youth, provided Joshua with at least some positive experiences to recall. These, along with his mother’s guidance enabled Joshua to stand strong after her death. His determination to turn his life around and his courage to write this book have generated online community support. Blog visitors write in with their appreciation for his positivity, as they face their own times of difficulty.

Please join us this weekend in honour of all mothers as Stern will tease excerpts from his soon to be released book. You can visit his blog all this weekend, to get the first peek at the truly daunting challenges and near death experiences he has surpassed to become a true survivor.
